Martedì 13 gennaio la 3 D e la 3 B si sono recate in visita alla Casa di riposo per cantanti e musicisti “Giuseppe Verdi”. Ecco il commento in inglese di due nostre studentesse.

casa verdi 1The  rest home for musicians was founded by composer Giuseppe Verdi in 1896. The structure was designed by Camillo Boito , brother of Verdi’s great librettist  Arrigo Boito, and here lie Verdi’s mortal remais next to those of his  wife Giuseppina Strepponi.
In the last years of his life Giuseppe Verdi wrote to his friend Giulio Monteverde: ” …of my work what I liked most is the home that I built in Milan , to welcome the old artists and singers  who were not favoured by fortune or not possessed at their young age the virtue of saving. Poor and dear friends of my life.”
The first guests arrived in the rest home  after Verdi’s death in 1902 , and since then the structure has welcomed about 1000 artists in the last years  of their lives.
There’s always music,  everywhere  you  can hear the sound of instruments and voices.

casa verdi 3Sometimes  you think that it’s impossible but , believe me, during our visit at  “Casa Verdi” , there was a strange presence. I can’ explain that magical attraction between me and this home , my mind  was full of incredibile sensations. Verdi had been watching us all the time , going around silently , with his deep eyes .
I haven’t just heard  his music , I felt his humanity….
